New Zealand Rabbits

The New Zealand Rabbit is a popular large breed known for its broad, muscular, and deep body with well-rounded haunches and upright ears.  Developed in the United States (not New Zealand) in the early 1900s, it typically weighs 9-12 pounds, with does slightly larger than the bucks.  Recognized by the ARBA in colors like white(often with ruby-red eyes), red, black, blue, and broken patterns, these rabbits feature dense, flybacks fur and a calm, docile temperament.  They're versatile, widely used for meat production, showing, pets, and historically for pelts and lab work due to their fast growth and hardy nature.
